Invited Guests This Week

I guess by now most of you know that our Daughter Shauna is coming to visit us this week. She’s arriving early Thursday morning with our Grandchildren Sophia and Lilly and their Daddy Mark. We are so excited to see them. We are planning on taking them around with us as we do our missionary callings. So Look forward to our adventures over the next 3 weeks. Plus I’m looking forward to receiving your answers to our question from our previous post.

We Are Still Here!

Well as you see we are still here in the lovely land of New Zealand. But when was the last time I posted on our blog? No it can’t really be that long. Nearly a month ago L

BIG APOLOGIES to our regular readers. My lame excuse is that because we have not been away I have not had the chance to write our blog on our journey. So that means we must have been very busy in the office! Or some of you might be saying “Why doesn’t Elder Saunders write a few lines?” My answer “That will never happen” actually I am saying that so that he can prove me wrong. He doesn’t read this blog, (shameful, I know) and I only read to him the bits I want to. J So this conversation is just between those of you out there and me.

Now what has been happening over the last month! We had transfer week the beginning of the month and what a challenge that was. 22 Sisters went home and they were just lovely Sisters. I miss them very much. And next month 19 more Sisters will finish their missions. This is getting harder each month as we build a stronger relationship with them all. But then on the other side we have had lots of new and enthusiastic missionaries coming in, which we grow to love daily as we serve them.

Elder Saunders has been even busier than ever. He has had to close 13 flats in the last 4 weeks which included the 9 he has closed in the last 6 days. Phew! I went with him last Friday to South Auckland to help clear out two flats. We didn’t have the time to clean them so he has to arrange that with the local flat inspectors.  I think that the total numbers of missionaries in our mission is going to go down to 200 instead of the previous over 250. Hopefully that will make it more manageable with all the breakdowns and supplies needs.

We are still very much enjoying our mission and serving the Lord in whatever capacity he requires from us. We were so blessed to be able to go to the Temple this week. Only our third visit since we have been here. We are going to try and make this a weekly goal and guess what time we will be aiming for?

Actually I’m going to leave that question for you to answer plus another little story for you to guess the ending of. Then post it in my next blog hopefully at the end of the week.

So once upon a time on a Sunday afternoon there was this Sister Saunders who was writing something on the computer in the office. When she had finished she wanted to save her work to take home and put on her laptop but she looked everywhere and could not find a USB memory stick. To her rescue came Elder Saunders with a warning!!!! “Don’t lose my stick as it has precious information on it.”

“Of course I won’t lose it!!!!” Famous last words.

When the couple went home to their little flat and Sister Saunders went to transfer the information from the USB stick to her lap top, ALAS WHAT HAD HAAPENED. The USB stick had disappeared into thin air.

The little flat was turned inside out, back to front, and upside down. No memory stick was found. Sister Saunders had also lost her memory of its whereabouts.   In great despair Elder Saunders rush back into town and checked out the office, just in case the stick had found its way back to the office. No such luck. The saddened couple went to bed that night with a heavy heart knowing that the USB memory stick was lost. (and all the precious information on it could be in the hands of criminals.

Monday morning Sister Saunders rechecked the office, no luck.

Tuesday the whole day went by without the saddened couple mentioning the loss.

Wednesday morning Elder Saunders went on a flat clearing exhibition and when he returned he went to his little flat for lunch. He made a revealing phone call to Sister Saunders. “I’ve found the USB memory stick. Guess where it was?”

Now that your 2 challenges for this week.

1.       What time are we planning to go to the Temple each week. (Approx. time)

2.       Where did the memory stick hide itself? (I’m taking no responsibility for putting it there.)
